Perpetual adoration in a Polish parish in the United States: one schedule, two languages

In many Polish parishes in the United States, some parishioners pray in Polish while others, often their children and grandchildren, prefer English. Yet the adoration sign-up sheet is often in English only. Here is how to keep a single schedule where everyone signs up in their own language.

1. One chapel, two languages

Polish and English Masses share the same church, and often the same adoration chapel. Both communities pray before the same Blessed Sacrament, but they do not always read the same announcements.

When the sign-up sheet is only in English, with just a phone number or a PDF for Polish speakers, some parishioners never sign up, and the coordinator ends up translating every change by hand.

2. Each adorer in their own language

With AdorationH24, the parish keeps one schedule for everyone, and each adorer chooses their language in “My settings”: Polish, English or any of the site’s other languages (seven in all).

  • Once chosen, the pages they use (the schedule, their hours, their settings) appear in their language.
  • The e-mails they receive (the reminder the day before, alerts when an hour becomes free) arrive in their language.
  • Two adorers sharing the same hour can each see it in their own language.

What the parish writes itself (place names, news, messages) appears exactly as written: write it in both languages when it matters.

3. The parish’s local time

The parish’s time zone is set by its city, chosen when the parish is created: New York, Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Honolulu each have their own. Reminders go out on the parish’s time, not the server’s.

A 15:00 hour stays at 15:00 all year, even when the clocks change in March and November. Times are shown in 24-hour format: 15:00 is 3 pm.

4. Inviting both communities

A few habits help the two communities share the same hours:

  • Announce it at both Masses on the same Sunday, in Polish and in English, with the same open hours.
  • One contact person per language, or a coordinator who speaks both, so that nobody hesitates to ask.
  • Offer a specific hour, in the language of the person you ask: “We need someone on Tuesday from 15:00 to 16:00.”
  • A sheet at the back of the church in both languages: the free template is available in Polish and in English.

Tip : night hours are the slowest to fill. Offer them at the end of both the Polish and the English Mass, to two people together if needed.

5. Prices in the United States

For a parish in the United States, prices are in US dollars per year, based on the number of adorers. Every plan includes all the features:

  • $110 a year: up to 50 adorers;
  • $280 a year: from 51 to 200 adorers;
  • $390 a year: from 201 to 400 adorers;
  • On quotation: more than 400 adorers, several parishes or a shrine.

The price is the same, whatever languages your adorers speak.

6. Getting started

To open your parish’s space, complete the form in Polish or in English: choose “United States”, then the city (it sets the time zone) and the parish language (used on its sign-up page).

To try it: Create my parish.
